Testing the Pattern

I am so excited to share this new pattern with you! I had the great opportunity to test the North Shore Swimsuit pattern for GreenStyle Creations, one of my very favorite PDF pattern companies. This is the third pattern I’ve tested for them, and this was just as amazing as the first couple of times I tested. I had a little bit of apprehension testing a swim suit because I knew I would have to take pictures in it. But I’m here to tell you, this pattern is amazing and the end result was a suit that fit my body like a glove.

I feel like when you make your own clothes, swimsuits are the holy grail of sewing. I made a swimsuit in college, but still felt a little overwhelmed by the thought. Luckily, earlier this year, I had the opportunity to test a girls swim pattern. (see that post here ). When this test came up, I was more confident that I could create a wearable swim suit.

So without futher ado- here’s a little review on the North Shore Swim suit pattern:

1. There are so many options in this ONE pattern. The one piece features cutouts, a high or low leg option for the bottoms, and so many combinations on the top. i.e halter, pullover, cross strap, S hook. And for the neckline, you can choose from Deep V,  Deep V with Full cup coverage, full coverage, and a tie front. The bikini bottoms come with even more options for the bottoms.
2. Per usual with GS patterns, the pattern file comes with step by step instructions that put even the newest beginner at ease. There are diagrams that show the steps, and it is easy to follow.
3. You can find the perfect fit for your body type. I used a SM top and graded to LG on the bottom to accommodate my baby-bearing hips. It fits me so well. I am excited to test it out on the first swimming trip with my kids!
4. I used my sewing machine for the entire process. I didn’t need my serger or any other machinery to make the suit look professional. (This is not to say that if I had a coverstitch machine, that I would not use that 😉 ).
